A shift says when work starts and ends and how long the break is. What counts as late, or as a half day, lives in the attendance policy — so one policy can govern every shift, and changing your late-mark rule does not mean editing twelve shifts.
Night shifts
If the end time is earlier than the start time, the shift crosses midnight and the platform treats it as one shift rather than two.
A 22:00–06:00 shift produces a single attendance record dated to the night it started. Both punches attach to that record, and no phantom half-day appears on the following morning. Payroll and reports then count it as one day worked, which is what it was.
